The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) on June 10 announced the category-wise top 20 percentile cut-off marks for the 2025 board exams. The top 20 percentile criterion will be considered to determine the candidate’s eligibility for admission to BTech programmes. In addition to the top 20 percentile cut-off for 2025, the josaa.nic.in website is making the top 20 percentile cut-off for 2023 and 2024 available.
JoSAA Counselling 2025 Explained: Who can participate? How is a BTech seat in IIT, NIT allocated?
JoSAA is responsible for conducting counseling for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and some government funded technical institutes (GFTIs). JoSAA will be regulating the joint seat allocation for admissions to 127 institutes for the academic year 2025-26. This includes 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 46 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). The registration and choice filling for JoSAA round 1 counselling started on June 3.
JoSAA 2025 Counselling: Category-wise top 20 percentile cut-off marks
For admission to an IIT, candidates are required to have completed their Class 12 board exams with a minimum of five subjects, obtaining an aggregate score of at least 75 per cent. There exist relaxations for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Person with Disabilities (PwD) categories, the minimum aggregate marks required are 65 per cent, or be in the top 20 percentile list.
