In a shocking case, an 8-year-old student at a private school in Chamarajanagara succumbed to a cardiac arrest on Monday after collapsing in the school. Despite being taken to a hospital immediately, the girl was declared dead on arrival, leaving her family in shock and disbelief.

Tejaswini, a class 3 student at the St. Francis School in Chamarajanagara, collapsed in the school at around 11:40 am, while heading to meet another schoolmate. The principal Fr. Prabhakaran said that the child leaned onto a wall and eventually collapsed. The teachers immediately transported the girl to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead. The principal added that the girl had not suffered any health variations or issues in the school before and that she was an active girl.

While the cases of cardiac arrests and heart attacks have risen among younger adults over the past few decades, an 8-year-old succumbing to one has left the school and family in utter disbelief.

The district Block Education Officer Hanuma Shetty, who paid a visit to the school to enquire about the incident, confirmed that the girl was active and healthy on the morning of the incident, adding that the doctors confirmed it was a case of a sudden cardiac arrest.

The deceased student’s father Lingaraju expressed his shock at the gut-wrenching tragedy. ‘Both my kids never suffered from any health issues, apart from the usual bouts of fever and headache. They have never been hospitalised. Both of my kids were healthy,’ he said.

The father said that when he approached the doctors, they confirmed that Tejaswini’s heartbeat had dropped by the time she was taken there, and for additional details, a post-mortem was necessary. Stating that he didn’t suspect any foul play in the unfortunate death of his daughter, Lingaraju refused to have any post-mortem being performed on his daughter.
