The Kerala board has announced the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and Higher Secondary Examination (HSC) exam dates 2024. As per the official schedule released by the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE) Kerala, the Kerala SSLC exam will be held from March 4, while the Kerala Plus One and Plus Two exams will begin on March 1.

The Kerala SSLC exam will be held between 9.30 am to 11.15 am while for some subjects it will be held from 9.30 am up to 12.15 pm. The Kerala HSE practical exam evaluation will begin on January 22. While exams for subjects without practicals will be held between 9.30 am to 12.15 pm. Subjects with practicals except for biology and music will be conducted between 9.30 am to 11.45 am. The exam timings for students appearing for biology and music are 9.30 am to 11.55 am.

The Kerala plus two model exams will be held from February 15 to 21 in two shifts — forenoon and afternoon. The Kerala SSLC model exams will be held between February 19 and 23.

The Kerala education department has notified that the draft state curriculum framework will be launched on September 21. Further, the board has informed Plus One improvement for this has been postponed to October 9 due to the Nipah virus. The exams will go on till October 16.

The state government had earlier announced that all schools, colleges, and educational institutes in Kerala’s Kozhikode will remain shut till September 24 in view of the Nipah virus outbreak. The Kozhikode administration identified seven village areas as containment zones to control the situation. Kozhikode District Collector A Geetha listed the panchayats declared as containment zones, which included Atanchery, Maruthonkara, Tiruvallur, Kuttiyadi, Kayakkodi, Villyapalli, and Kavilumpara.

Nipah virus infection can cause mild to severe illness. In severe cases, it can lead to significant brain swelling (encephalitis) and, in some cases, even death. Local government offices were directed by the district collector to have minimal staff, while banks, government institutions, schools, and Anganwadis should not operate at all.
