NEET Suicide Case: Police said the body was discovered on the Delhi-Mumbai railway track near the station on the night between Wednesday and Thursday.

Days after the mutilated body of a 17-year-old NEET aspirant was found on a railway track near Dakania Railway Station, police suspect a “love affair” might be the reason behind the suspected suicide, officials said.

The body was discovered on the Delhi-Mumbai railway track on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, as reported by news agency PTI. Police identified the deceased as Himanshu Singh Rajput, a resident of Buxar, Bihar, based on an ID card found with the body. Rajput was preparing for the NEET exam at a coaching institute in Kota, police added.

According to a Government Railway Police (GRP) officer, Rajput’s girlfriend, who is studying at IIT, had called his friends on Wednesday night, warning them that he might take some extreme step. However, by the time his friends reached his room, he had already left.

DSP Kota GRP Shankar Lal said the case is under investigation, and they are looking into the possible “love angle.”

GRP officer Ishwar Singh mentioned that Rajput had returned to his PG from home on Tuesday. His family told the police that he did not seem troubled. The family considered it an accident and refused a post-mortem examination, after which the police handed over the body to them.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

Class 12 Student Dies By Suicide Post JEE Results

Eighteen-year-old Aditi Mishra, an engineering student, died by suicide on Wednesday, February 12, after leaving a note apologising to her parents. A day earlier, the JEE exam results were announced, and Aditi had failed. Heartbroken by the result, she hanged herself in her hostel room.

The police found a suicide note in her room that read: “Sorry mummy papa, forgive me… I could not do it…”

Aditi was a student at Momentum Coaching Center in Betiahata, under the Cantt police station area in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. She had been preparing for the JEE exam for the past two years while staying in the Satyadeep Girls Hostel, where she shared a room with another girl.

On Wednesday morning, Aditi spoke to her parents over the phone and even asked her father to recharge her mobile. Her family said she seemed upset about her exam result.

Later, when Aditi’s roommate returned and knocked on the door, there was no response. She peeped through the window and saw Aditi hanging from a noose made with a stole. The roommate immediately informed the hostel warden, who then called the police.

During the investigation, police recovered the suicide note in which Aditi wrote: “Sorry mummy papa, forgive me… I could not do it… this was the end of our relationship… you guys don’t cry… you gave me a lot of love. I couldn’t fulfill your dreams… please take care of Choti… she will definitely fulfill your dreams. Your beloved daughter, Aditi.”
