JEE Advanced AIR 5 Ujjawal Kesari has also been selected to represent India in the International Chemistry Olympiad slated to be held in Dubai in July this year.

JEE Advanced AIR 5 Ujjawal Kesari scored 324 marks out of a total of 360.

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2025 results were announced on Monday. Meet Ujjawal Kesari, native of Delhi, who grabbed the All India Rank – 5 by scoring 324 marks out of a total of 360 in the IIT entrance exam.

It was his keen interest in physics and mathematics that drove him to take this route. He would spend almost 10 to 12 hours daily for his JEE preparation. Ujjawal also 99.999 percentile in the JEE Main 2025 first session exam and secured an overall rank of 33. He did not appear for the second session. He had joined Vidyamandir Classes, New Delhi since class 10 for the entrance exam preparations.

“The flow of JEE Mains and Advanced went simultaneously. I mostly referred to notes and modules I received from my teachers. For JEE Mains, I referred to NCERT books extensively, especially for the chemistry section. I studied around 10-12 hours daily. During school days, after returning, I would spend around 5-6 hours on JEE preparation,” the 17-year-old said.

“I always had an interest in science field especially physics, But I was never interested in biology. Hence always wanted to go to engineering. I have been inclined towards math and physics since childhood,” Ujjawal told News18.

“There are many ups and downs but we have to keep trying and not give up in between,” he added.

Unlike many students who opt for IITs, Ujjawal plans to go to IISc Bangalore as he wishes to take up research in physics. “It is one of the best institutes for in India for research. Physics was my favourite subject in school,” he said.

He has also been selected to represent India in the 57th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) slated to be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in July this year.

He completed his schooling from CBSE-affiliated Birla Vidyamandir Niketan wherein he 97.4 per cent in class 10 and 97.8 per cent in class 12th. His father is in the placement service and runs his own consultancy while his mother is a housewife.
