Mumbai: After three years of a disrupted academic calendar, Mumbai University is planning to restore the schedule for summer exams as per the pre-pandemic years. The university will start the summer session of exams on March 27. In a statement issued by the exam department, the university announced the commencement date of all 431 exams conducted by them.
The third-year B Com (semester VI) exam, taken by the highest number of students enrolled with the university, will start on April 5. Even as the university has not announced the results of all semester V exams yet, students are hoping for the results of their final exams to be announced on time.
For two years of the pandemic, all summer exams were taken online in the multiple-choice question (MCQ) format. Last year, the final exams for traditional courses were taken online, but professional exams moved offline, however, it continued to follow the 50% MCQ pattern. Pen-and-paper exams were restored during the winter session, but this will be the first final exam for thousands of students in three years.
A principal said that the university is yet to announce all the results of semester V, but now since the commencement dates for semester VI exams are out, they are hoping for the results to be in the pipeline. Another principal hoped for an error-free exam season, unlike the winter session, where there were glitches in the hall tickets and even in exam paper codes.
TYBA semester V results are yet to be announced, after a section of students giving one of their Abnormal Psychology papers wrote the exam in the old syllabus. An official said that the exam dates are released, and the detailed timetable will follow soon. Of the 431 exams, 97 are conducted under the commerce faculty, with a maximum enrolment of students.
