NEET PG SC Hearing: The Supreme Court will hear the NEET PG 2024 result transparency case today, January 7, 2024. The hearing was scheduled for December 10 but was postponed for the seventh time. Medical students have expressed frustration with the repeated delays.

After the declaration of the result on August 11, 2024, students alleged lack of transparency in the exam process and raised concerns about how the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) operates.

On September 7, 2024, 19 students approached the Supreme Court asking for clarity on NEET PG 2024 and requesting that candidates’ raw scores be made available.

On September 11, 2024, the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, heard the petition and asked the National Board of Examinations (NBE) to respond to the concerns.

On September 20, 2024, the bench pointed out that it was “unusual” to change the NEET PG exam pattern just three days before the exam. This was the first time the exam was held in multiple shifts.

The case has been postponed several times, and the next hearing is set for today.

Despite repeated requests, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) refused to release the answer key, raw marks, and normalised marks, citing confidentiality as a key part of its admission policy.

During the first hearing, the Supreme Court noted the last-minute change in the exam pattern, the distant exam centres, and the non-disclosure of exam content, calling the situation “unusual.”

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test—Postgraduate (NEET PG 2024) was held on August 11, 2024, at 416 exam centres across the country, with a total of 2,28,540 candidates registered.

Instead of a single shift, the exam was held in two shifts this year: Shift 1 from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM and Shift 2 from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM.

The NBE introduced the normalisation process with the new system. As a result, many candidates received lower marks than expected, leading to frustration among students and raising concerns about the transparency of the results
