The notification for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025 will be released on April 17 after 3 PM. The online application window will remain open until May 7, with the deadline set at 11:55 PM. The exam is scheduled to be conducted on June 15, and results will be announced on July 15.
Despite ongoing criticism, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will conduct NEET PG 2025 in a computer-based format across two shifts.
Every year, nearly two lakh MBBS graduates appear for NEET PG, competing for approximately 52,000 postgraduate medical seats across India.
Notably, NEET PG was held in two shifts for the first time last year. The exam took place on August 11, with the first shift from 9 AM to 12:30 PM and the second from 3:30 PM to 7 PM.
While the exam date has been confirmed, many candidates have raised concerns over the continued implementation of the two-shift format. Students are calling for a return to the traditional single-shift exam, citing worries about inconsistencies in question paper difficulty and doubts regarding the fairness of the score normalisation process.
The two-shift system was first introduced last year, replacing the long-standing single-session format. Although the NBEMS adopted a normalisation method to ensure parity across shifts, the move has sparked widespread debate and dissatisfaction. As of now, there has been no official response or indication from NBEMS about any changes to the exam pattern or steps to address these concerns.
Recently, a fake tweet went viral claiming postponement of NEET PG. However, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) clarified that the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025 has not been “postponed to 17 August” as claimed by a viral post.
