A primary school teacher of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jehanabad, Bihar, has been suspended after a video of her stating people of Bihar have “no civic sense” surfaced online. The 24-year-old teacher, originally from West Bengal, expressed discontent over her inaugural posting in Bihar, calling it unacceptable.

In the viral video, she stated her preference for postings in regions like Kolkata, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, or even Ladakh, over Bihar. “I will always remember my first posting … Kendriya Vidyalaya has many regions, Though people don’t like Kolkata region, but I was even ready for that. I am ready to go places like Kolkata, Goa, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, or even Ladakh where no one wants to go, but no…,” she said.

She also said Bihar is creating obstacles to India’s progress and its people lack basic civic sense. “..I am staying here and the ground reality is people in Bihar have no civic sense..,” she said. Her remarks sparked widespread outrage in the state.

Following a complaint lodged by Lok Janshakti Party MP Shambhavi Choudhary, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) suspended the teacher with immediate effect on February 25. The teacher, identified as Deepali, has been transferred to Kendriya Vidyalaya, Mashrak, Chhapra, for the duration of the suspension.

“As per provisions of rule 10 of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965, Deepali, the primary teacher on probation, posted at KVS (Jehanabad), is suspended with immediate effect. She will report to KVS, Mashrakh, in Saran district,” the KVS regional office in Patna said in a statement, reported PTI.

The Jehanabad district administration condemned the teacher’s actions, labeling them as “highly condemnable” and emphasizing the steps taken in accordance with established rules and regulations. The police have also initiated an investigation into the incident.

The teacher has been questioned by the Cyber Police Station, but no FIR has been filed yet. The police are currently investigating the matter. As per reports, the video is from a month back.
