NEW DELHI: Looking at the heatwave conditions and the mercury soaring to 40-degree Celsius across Odisha on Tuesday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has directed to close off all schools up to Class 10 along with anganwadis from April 12 to April 16, 2023.
Recently, the temperature has significantly risen in Odisha with the Met department has released a heatwave warning throughout the state.
In view of this, anganwadi and schools up to Class 10th, government, as well as private schools, will be closed from today till April 16, the CM ordered.
CM Patnaik ordered the administration and officials, especially the housing and urban development, panchayat raj, and energy departments, to prepare in advance for dealing with any approaching situation.
The chief minister asked the authorities to make sure that there is a proper supply of drinking water, both in rural and urban areas, with a special emphasis on water scarcity pockets. He also asked the energy department to ensure a continuous supply of electricity to meet the demand during heatwave conditions.
Patnaik also directed the administration to stay connected with various professional Met agencies to gather information on monsoons and do proper planning in advance.
Forecasting heatwave conditions between April 13 and April 15, the Met Department has issued a yellow warning for several districts of the state. The weather department has suggested people to take precautions while stepping out between 11 AM and 3 PM.
