Two private schools in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore city as well as a school in Karnataka received bomb threats through emails on Tuesday following which students were evacuated from the premises, reported PTI. All three cases later turned out to be a hoax, police said. Two cases were registered against unidentified persons for the bomb threats in Indore schools.
Indore Public School which received a bomb threat was an exam centre for a test conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). The exam was affected due to the hoax bomb threat. “The SSC headquarters was informed about this email by the local coordinator. After this, it was decided that the examination will be held on some other day,” he said.
In New Digamber Public School, a practical exam was being held but it had to be postponed, the police and school authorities said.
“Separate emails were received by the city’s New Digamber Public School, located on Khandwa Road, and Indore Public School in Rau area on Tuesday morning, threatening to blow up these educational institutions with RDX and a human bomb,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vinod Kumar Meena told PTI.
During police investigation, it was found that the emails were sent from a Hotmail ID which was fake, Meena said. Police have registered two cases under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against unidentified persons. An investigation is underway, the official told the news agency.
Similarly, after a comprehensive screening, the bomb threat email received by the Karnataka school turned out to be a hoax.
“A private educational institution in Kalaburagi city received a threat email. As soon as the institute informed us, local police arrived at the scene and evacuated the students. We immediately deployed an anti-sabotage team along with a bomb detection and disposal squad to thoroughly inspect and sanitise the area,” Kalaburagi police commissioner Sharanappa S D told PTI.
