PSEB Class 8th Results 2025 Out: Amritsar district secures first place, Mohali at 11th position

In the recently announced Class 8 results by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), Amritsar district has secured the top position across the state with the highest pass percentage of 98.85%. Interestingly, Mohali district — where the PSEB headquarters is located — did not make it to the top 10 and settled at the 11th position with a pass percentage of 97.63%.

As per the official results declared today, Pathankot secured the second place, followed by Gurdaspur in at third position, Kapurthala in 4th, Ferozepur in 5th, SBS Nagar in 6th, Tarn Taran in 7th, Hoshiarpur in 8th, Faridkot in 9th, and Mansa in 10th. At the bottom, Sri Muktsar Sahib district ranked 23rd with a pass percentage of 95.61%.

A major highlight of these results is that girls outperformed boys, with a pass percentage of 98.9% compared to 96.49% for boys.

Additionally, all nine transgender students who appeared for the exam passed, resulting in a 100% pass rate among transgender candidates.

It’s worth noting that the overall pass percentage has seen a decline compared to last year. While it was 98.31% in the previous year, this year it has dropped to 97.30%.

PSEB Results: Mohali’s performance

Top rank in Mohali is secured by Samriti Verma from Government School in Karkaur. Out of a total of 319 merit list positions across Punjab, only four students from Mohali made it to the list. In the Class 8 results of Mohali district, Samriti Verma, a student from the government school in Karkaur village, Dera Bassi tehsil, secured 43rd rank in the state merit list.

The second position in Mohali was secured by Chandan Mohan Giri, a student of the government middle school in Jandpur village, Kharar tehsil, who achieved 109th rank. In third place within the district was Amanpreet Kaur from the government school in Siaon village, Mohali tehsil, who ranked 216th in the state.

Sutej, a student of Mount View Public School, Baltana, Zirakpur tehsil held the fourth spot in Mohali with a 221st rank in the merit list.
An important observation is that the top three merit holders from Mohali all come from government schools, whereas only one student from a private school in the entire district managed to make it to the merit list.
