The announcement came amid the allegations that the answers to the Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) were printed on the question paper only.
The decision to cancel the PSTET 2023 was announced by the Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains through his official Twitter handle. “To maintain complete fairness in our examination process, a PS level probe has been ordered to look in to PSTET exam conducted by a third Party with A++ NAAC grade i.e. GNDU,” Bains tweeted.

Bains further announced that those found guilty will be booked for criminal negligence.
Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), the third-party institution that was responsible for conducting the examination announced that they will re-conduct the examination without any fees.
Bains also said, “In future, have ordered my department to have a suitable clause for compensation in the MOU’s signed with third parties for compensation of the candidates in such a scenario. Why should candidates suffer.”
The PSTET 2023 exam was conducted on March 12, 2023. The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) consisted of two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates who intend to teach Classes I to V appeared for Paper 1, while those who wish to teach Classes VI to VIII appeared for Paper 2. Candidates who intend to teach classes I to VIII appeared in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both papers had 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) of 1 mark each.
