Pune: Peon Arrested For Allegedly Installing Camera In Changing Room Of Schoolgirls – News18

The school authorities conducted an inquiry. After finding out that the cellphone belonged to the peon, they reported the matter to the police.

A 29-year-old peon was arrested on Tuesday night for allegedly installing a camera in the changing room of female students at a school in Pune, reported Times Of India. The peon had installed a cell phone with its camera on in the kitchen-cum-changing room of the girls, which was spotted by a few students.

On Monday, the girls reported the matter to the school authorities, DCP (Zone IV) Himmat Jadhav said. Thereafter, the school authorities conducted an inquiry and found that the cell phone belonged to the peon. The matter was reported to the police on Tuesday evening.

The Chatushrungi police have now arrested the peon. “We arrested the peon the same night after registering an FIR for offences under POCSO Act and voyeurism, and seized his cellphone. It will be given to digital forensic experts to establish details,” Jadhav told the news agency.

“We took immediate steps to inform the police after the incident was reported to us. The police are investigating the case. We have also reported this incident to the deputy director of education as well as the district education officer. Subsequently, we have terminated the person involved in this case,” a senior official from the society that runs the school said.

The peon had been working at the school since 2015. Police further said that they are investigating the case and will find out if he has done anything similar before, Jadhav said as per the report.

The girls, all aged between 12 and 13 years, reported the matter to their parents as well. The parents on Tuesday approached the school authorities and then the matter was reported to the police.

In a similar case, a few months ago, a 21-year-old BTech student was caught “red-handed” using his phone to film inside the women’s washroom at his college in Bengaluru. A case was filed against the student after receiving a complaint from the college management. Following this, they arrested him and seized his mobile phone.
