The 2025 HSC Board results have brought pride and joy to many colleges across Pune, with students from different backgrounds achieving notable success. From mainstream junior colleges to night schools, the results reflect the efforts of students, parents, and teachers alike.
Commerce topper at Pratibha Junior College, Chinchwad, Shivam Gunjal said, “When I saw the result and realized I had topped with 94.50%, I was in complete shock and joy. I didn’t go to coaching, so I studied smartly with a proper timetable. I want to become a Chartered Accountant. My parents and teachers were a huge support system.”
Science topper at Fergusson Junior College Ishan Karmarkar scored 95.5%. “Achieving 95.5% was a culmination of consistent effort and a deep understanding of concepts rather than rote learning. I want to pursue research in physics and contribute to sustainable technology,” Krmarkar told The Indian Express. Arts topper Krishnan Nethra, who scored 97%, shared, “Arts stream was beyond my expectations. I approached my studies by connecting theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios. I plan to work in policy-making to drive social change.”
Science stream topper at Symbiosis School of Arts and Commerce Brian D’Souza told The Indian Express, “My journey through academics has been both challenging and rewarding. Balancing my studies with personal life was no easy feat, but the unwavering support from my parents made all the difference.”
His father, Francis D’Souza, said, “I believe that fostering a nurturing environment is crucial, especially during challenging times like board exams. I never set rigid targets; instead, I encouraged him to focus on doing his best. It’s vital for parents to stand by their children, offering motivation and understanding, as it can significantly influence their success. Witnessing Brian’s hard work pay off fills me with immense pride.”
With a 71.23% result, Pune Night High School and Junior College saw success among working students and adult learners. Prof. Nilesh Nilkanth Sabane, Head of the Junior College, said, “Our students are workers, parents, dreamers, and warriors. They study under the streetlights of willpower.” Topper Maithili Dhadve scored 73.17% while working at APS Electronics. “I used to study early in the morning before work and revise at night. My teachers always motivated me. I want to study further and work in design or technology,” she said.
Second-ranker Roshan Dike works at a food outlet and scored 72.83%. The third-place was taken by Devkanya Gharbudwe, a 35-year-old mother of two, who scored 68% while working at an IT company and studying after a long break. “These are not just marks; they are stories of courage. Our aim is not just to teach textbooks but to make students believe in their potential,” said Prof. Sabane.
At Niwant Andh Mukta Vikasalay, Ambika Gavate topped the Arts stream with a score of 89.50%, followed closely by Pranali Mule with 87.17%. In the Commerce stream, Nidhish Mane led with a strong score of 85.83%, followed by Akshay Dandwatte with 80.50%.
A clear vision for the future

Another inspiring student is Bhumika Jadhav, a 17-year-old visually impaired student who scored 90.83%. “Being blind since childhood, the journey to scoring 90.83% in the HSC exams was filled with challenges, but also immense support and determination. Fergusson College provided me with audio and Braille books, and arranged writers for my exams, which was crucial for my preparation.”
She added, “I relied heavily on audio books, listening to them repeatedly to grasp the content. My friends and teachers were always there to assist me, whether it was by reading out notes or discussing complex topics. This collaborative approach made learning effective and enjoyable. I plan to major in Economics and aspire to appear for the UPSC exams to serve the nation and advocate for inclusive policies. My goal is to work towards creating a society where physical limitations do not hinder one’s aspirations.”
