NEW DELHI: The Punjab government has extended the closure of schools in the state till July 16, 2023. Schools will reopen on July 17, 2023.
The decision was taken in view of the heavy rains that have been lashing the state for the past few days. The rains have caused widespread damage, including flooding and landslides.
The government has said that the extension of the closure of schools is necessary to ensure the safety of students and teachers.
The state government has also announced that all government and private offices will remain closed on July 16, 2023.
The IMD has forecast more rain in the state in the next few days. The government has asked people to be careful and to avoid unnecessary travel.
Earlier, schools were closed in the state from July 11 to 13 in view of unrelenting rains and flooding. And Chandigarh administration has advised public/private offices to consider closing down temporarily.
