VISAKHAPATNAM: The EnCore Club of the Department of English at Dr. VS Krishna Government Degree College, Visakhapatnam, celebrated the 117th birth anniversary of the iconic Indian author RK Narayan on Tuesday. The Head of the English Department, Prof. N. Solomon Benny, spoke about RK Narayan’s influence on Indian English literature. Principal Dr. I. Vijaya Babu delved into the essence of Indianness portrayed in Narayan’s literary works. English faculty members, including Dr. R. Rani, Dr. P. Padma Priya, Dr. SV Rama Rao, Dr. CVS Ravindranath, and T. Rama Krishna, shared their perspectives on the significance of RK Narayan’s literary contributions.
Enthusiastic students actively participated in the celebration, elucidating the themes of Narayan’s works at a photo exhibition. They also presented a biography of the author through a captivating PowerPoint presentation. An audio-visual presentation showcased the brilliance of RK Narayan, featuring glimpses from “Malgudi Days” and other notable works.
Enthusiasm ran high as attendees eagerly queued up to take photographs at the dedicated Photo Booth, thoughtfully set up by the EnCore Club students. This initiative aimed to commemorate the literary luminary’s birth anniversary and provided an opportunity for visitors to connect with the spirit of RK Narayan’s enduring legacy.
The event also featured the presence of Dr. Jaya, Vice Principal, Dr. Kusuma, Dr. Laxmi, Dr. Subhashini, Dr. Ravi Babu, Dr. Samuel David Raj, and Prasad Babu.
The event witnessed a robust turnout, with both lecturers and students participating wholeheartedly, underscoring the enduring relevance of RK Narayan’s literary legacy.
