Congress veteran Sam Pitroda has claimed that during his address at IIT Roorkee via a video call, “a hacker infiltrated the video link and began streaming explicit, inappropriate content”.

According to the Congress leader, the incident occurred during the Cognizant event held at IIT Roorkee on February 1, 2025. He had joined the gathering of students and teachers via Zoom call.

“Unfortunately, just minutes after my speech, a hacker infiltrated the video link and began streaming explicit, inappropriate content. We immediately shut down the video and ended the event,” Pitroda said.

He added, “It’s deeply disturbing that such incidents occur, especially in academic spaces meant for learning and growth.”

The Congress leader said that cyber security remains a critical concern, and this serves as a “stark reminder of the importance of digital safety and vigilance”.
