The State Bank of India (SBI) has released an official notification to fill 2,964 Circle Based Officer (CBO) posts for the year 2025–26. The recruitment includes 2,600 regular and 364 backlog vacancies across various circles in India. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online via the official SBI website. The application window is open until May 29, 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
Interested candidates must have a degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. Professional qualifications such as Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accountancy, etc., are also acceptable.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years’ experience as an officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank or Regional Rural Bank as of 30 April 2025 is required. Candidates must submit a job profile certification from their employer. If the profile does not match that of an SBI Scale 1 Generalist Officer, the application will be rejected.
Age Limit
The minimum age required to apply is 21 years, and the maximum is 30 years (i.e. candidates must have been born between 01 May 1995 and 30 April 2004). Age relaxation is applicable as follows:
SC/ST: 5 years
OBC (NCL): 3 years
PwBD: 10 years
Ex-Servicemen: 5 years
Local Language Proficiency
Candidates must be able to read, write, and speak the local language of their chosen circle. Proof of proficiency must be provided through academic records (studied the language in Class 10 or 12).
Selection Process
The SBI CBO 2025 selection process comprises three stages:
Online Test: Includes sections on English Language, Banking Knowledge, General Awareness/Economy, and Computer Aptitude.
Objective Test: 2 hours, 120 marks
Descriptive Test: 30 minutes, 50 marks (one letter and one essay)
Interview:Worth 50 marks. Candidates must obtain minimum qualifying marks for final selection.
Local Language Test: Proficiency in the local language of the selected circle will be assessed.
A state- and category-wise merit list will be prepared based on interview marks.
Application Fee
General/OBC/EWS: Rs 750
SC/ST/PwBD: No fee
Mode of Payment: Online (Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, UPI)
Salary And Benefits
Selected candidates will receive a salary of Basic Pay of Rs 48,480 under the pay scale of Rs 48,480 to Rs 85,920 (Junior Management Grade Scale-I). Additional allowances include Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA)/Lease Rental, City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), medical and other benefits. One increment per year will be granted for candidates with 2 or more years of experience.

Notes
- Candidates can apply for only one circle and, if selected, must serve in that circle.
- SBI employees in clerical/supervisory cadre or contract-based workers are not eligible.
- Candidates must resolve any outstanding loans with any bank/NBFC before joining.
Result And Cut-Off
The exam result will be published on the official website within a month of the examination. State-wise and category-wise cut-off marks will be released separately.
