HEScholarship For Indians At Peking University
Founded in 1898, the Peking University (PKU) is the first national university in Chinese modern history. Peking University now consists of five faculties namely Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Medicine and Information & Engineering. The University has 53 colleges and departments and offers 120 undergraduate programs, 242 graduate programs, and 212 doctoral programs. While still emphasizing fundamental sciences, the university has paid special attention to the development of applied sciences. In October 2013, there were 14116 undergraduate students, 13665 postgraduate students, and 8134 doctoral candidates.
Peking University hosts around 3,574 long-term international students from 116 countries, with 2,540 pursuing degree programs.
Peking University is also known for its outstanding research facilities and highly qualified teachers and researchers with extensive research interests and in-depth knowledge.
The University has 6,441 full-time faculty members, including 1,701 professors and 2,037 associate professors. The university is also home to 11 national key labs, 86 state key labs, 2 national engineering research centers, and 8 affiliated hospitals.
The Peking University library is the largest in Asia, with a collection of 9.0195 million books, as well as Chinese and foreign journals and newspapers. The library also serves as a comprehensive modern information center.
The university attracts numerous students worldwide, but many face obstacles such as financial constraints. To address this, the university offers scholarships to meritorious and talented international students who require financial assistance or face other challenges that hinder their admission.
Given below are some of the scholarships available at the university for international students for admission to a Master’s degree. The list contains mainly those scholarships for which Indian students are eligible.
The scholarship available here at the University for admission to the post-graduation degree:-
1. Peking University Academic Excellence Scholarships
Eligibility:
- Any international Student
- Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
- Should have been admitted to PKU as an undergraduate or a graduate student to pursue a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. degree.
- Should not be a recipient of other scholarship funds.
- Applicants for professional degrees, joint degree programs, or English-taught programs are excluded.
Basic Requirements:
The candidate must be a regular student in their last highest qualification. Recipients must comply with Chinese laws and university regulations, register on time, demonstrate academic diligence, and achieve outstanding grades. They must also have great research abilities along with creative thoughts.
Scholarship Amount: 4,000 RMB to 15 students
How to Apply:
To apply, candidates must submit their application online, attaching the required documents, including:
- International academic excellence proposal form
- Transcript with
- Two letters of recommendation
- Published theses (if applicable)
A review panel will assess the applications, and the selected candidates’ list will be submitted to the President’s office for approval. Note that international students receiving Chinese government scholarships will be notified through the university, not directly.
Instead, they will only get a certificate of honor and a souvenir.
2. Bejing Government Scholarship
The Beijing Government Scholarship offers full or partial tuition fee exemptions to foreign students who excel academically. The scholarship is applied for and evaluated every year
Application Process:
Applications are made to the PKU International Students Division.
3. Peking University Health Centre Scholarship (PUHCS)
for the students who have an interest in health and science scholarship:
- Chinese Government Scholarship: Comprehensive coverage including tuition, accommodation, and living expenses.
- Bejing Scholarship For Foreign Students: Awards winning from 25% to 100 % of tuition Fee for new outstanding international students.
- ASEAN Elite Scholarship: Targeting young professionals from AAEAN young member states with relevant work experience and covering all expenses related academic and researched skills.
