 University of Waterloo Grants for Indian Students

Scholarship for Indian Students at the University of Waterloo is a huge hub and most of the Indian students want to get this. The University of Waterloo believes that funding graduate students enables them to focus on their studies. The Graduate Studies Office (GSO) collaborates with the Office of Development to establish new donor-funded awards.

The GSO, Faculties, and departments work together to advertise, adjudicate, and distribute various awards to graduate students. These awards include financial support from government sources, research grants, and internal/external Waterloo awards.

Internal awards comprise bursaries, emergency loans, and graduate scholarships, made possible by contributions from faculty, staff, alumni, and others. Many internal awards do not require an application; instead, departments nominate students.

External awards are offered by federal and provincial scholarship agencies, as well as private companies. The University of Waterloo manages these competitions and payments.

We have highlighted some scholarship awards available to Master’s Degree students at the University of Waterloo, including Indian students.

The scholarships available especially for the Indian students are:-

1.     President’s Graduate Scholarship

Category:

The Internal or the Waterloo Awards

Eligibility:

Any international student, even those who are receiving the tri-council (National Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) / Social Science and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) / Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR)) and the provincial Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) competition – based scholarship are also eligible

Scholarship Amount:

Up to $ 10,000 per year
Application Procedure: Must submit a completed application to their department

2.     University of Waterloo Graduate Scholarship

Category:

The Internal or the Waterloo Awards
Eligibility:

Any international student with 80% standing
Scholarship Amount:

May vary but a minimum would be $ 1,000 per term for the three terms
Application Procedure:

No need to submit any application. According to the availability of the awards, the department will automatically nominate

3.     Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS)

Category:

The External Awards
Eligibility:

Any international student
Scholarship Amount:

Either $ 10,000 split over 2 terms or $ 15,000 split over 3 terms. Students who are successful in the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) competition will also receive the President’s Graduate Scholarship of $ 10,000 per year
Application Procedure:

Students must apply for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) at the institute

4. Merit Scholarship

The Scholarship acknowledges high academic performance among incoming undergraduate students.

Eligibility:

Achieve an admission average between 85% and 89.9%

5. David Johnston-Lebovic Foundation International Experience Awards

These awards promote international experience for undergraduate and graduate students.

Award:

Funding for a one-term study experience can be up to CAD 2,500; funding for two terms of work or volunteer experience can reach up to CAD 10,000.
Eligibility Criteria:

All full-time undergraduate and graduate students in any faculty are eligible to apply.
Applicants must participate in an international experience connected with academic or co-op requirements

6. Award President’s Scholarship of Distinction

This award promotes outstanding academic accomplishments among first-year undergraduate students

Award:
CAD 2,000 one time award

Potential for an additional CAD 1,500 International Experience Award or CAD 1,500 Research Award, applicable during the duration of the student’s undergraduate study

Eligibility
Overall admission average: 95% or higher
