Many students worldwide aspire to attend top universities, but financial constraints and other issues hinder their dreams. To address this, the Indian Government and private foundations offer scholarships to exceptionally talented and meritorious Indian students. Scholarships provided by India to pursue master’s abroad for Indian Students have opened doors for those who cannot afford education abroad due to financial need or other challenges, enabling them to pursue their academic goals.

Given below are some of the scholarships that are provided by India and which are available for Indian students for their admission in the colleges abroad for pursuing their degree of Masters.

The scholarships provided by India are:

1.       R.D. Sethna Scholarships

This scholarship is named after the Indian Philanthropist Mr. R D Sethna. This scholarship provides funds to the students of India who have completed their undergraduate degree with very good marks. The candidates must be outstanding and deserving and can be from any community.

Eligibility: Only those applicants who hold their bachelors’ degree and who have secured not less than 50% of the total marks in the last examination given by them prior to the making of the applications are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Scholarship Amount: Rs. 10,000 or more

How to Apply: The application form must be legibly filled in along with the documents: certified copies of the Mark sheets, a copy of the letter of. Applicants who have secured admission to USA Universities or Institutions must enclose a copy of the Form I-20. For the studies in India, the applicant must produce the receipt of the admission fees paid to the College or Institution.
The applicant was given copies of the testimonials/letters of recommendation.

A passport-size photograph must be certified by a S.E.M., Gazetted Officer, or head of the applicant’s college/institution.
Students studying in India must submit proof of their college/institution’s recognition by the government of India.
All submitted documents must be certified as true copies by a S.E.M., Gazetted Officer, or head of the applicant’s college/institution

2. Sahu Jain Trust Scholarships

Sahu Jain Trust is a philanthropic organization that was founded by Smt. Rama Jain & Sahu. Shanti Prasad Jain announces the need – cum – merit based educational scholarships.

Eligibility: Indian students who have completed their undergraduate degree, have extraordinary merits, and have a financial need are eligible for this scholarship.

Scholarship Amount: Rs. 1,000 per month

How to Apply: Application forms will be available free of charge or can be had by post sending a 9″x 4″ self addressed stamped (Rs. 10/-) envelope to the Secretary, Sahu Jain Trust, 18, Institutional Area, Lodhi Road, New Delhi – 110 003. The candidate needs to fill up the form and then submit it to the same address.

3.J. N. Ratan Tata Endowment

Founded in 1892, the J. N. Ratan Tata Endowment scholarship by the Tata group, selects 120 scholars for pursuing higher studies at the best universities in the world.

Eligibility: Indian nationals who have graduated from recognized Indian universities with a consistently good academic record are eligible. This includes final-year students and those awaiting results, as well as academics and mid-career professionals up to 45 years old with experience in their fields who wish to pursue further specialized training abroad.

Scholarship Amount: Between Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 4,00,000

How to Apply:

Prescribed application forms will be available from the Administrative Office of the Endowment from December to February at the address “Mulla House 4th Floor 51 M.G. Road, Fort Mumbai – 400 001”. Applicants must pay a fee of Rs. 100 in cash, Demand Draft, or Money Order made out to the J. N. Tata Endowment, with their full name and address clearly mentioned. The Endowment will then mail the application form. Completed forms must be submitted to the Endowment’s office.

4.Lady Meherbai D. Tata Education Trust Scholarships

The Lady Meherbai D. Tata Education Trust awards scholarships to Indian women graduates from recognized Indian universities who wish to pursue higher education abroad.

Eligibility:

Indian women graduates with a consistently good academic record from recognized Indian universities are eligible. Preference will be given to those who:

  • Have secured admission to or have applied for universities/institutions in the US, UK, or Europe for the current academic year
  • Possess work experience in related fields, considered an added qualification

Scholarship Amount: The amount that would be covering all the expenses of tuition, books, living, academics, health, etc.

How to Apply: The candidates need to fill up the application form and submit to the address “Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, Bombay House, 24, Homi Mody Street, Mumbai 400 001, India”.

5. Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation Scholarships

The Inlaks Scholarships empower young people with exceptional talent in any field to expand their global perspective and enhance their skills, enabling them to become future agents of change in their communities.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  •  Be an Indian citizen
  • Hold a good first degree from a recognized Indian university
  •  Alternatively, hold a good undergraduate degree from a recognized foreign university
  •  Have continuously resided, worked, or studied in India for at least two years before application

Scholarship Amount: The amount that would be covering tuition fees, adequate living expenses, and one-way travel for the period granted

Scholarships Provided by India to Pursue Masters’ Abroad to Indian Students6.       Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarships

The Aga Khan Foundation offers a limited number of scholarships annually for postgraduate studies to exceptional students from specific developing countries. These scholarships support students with no alternative funding sources, preparing them for careers primarily within the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).

Eligibility: Any international candidates who have consistently excellent academic records, genuine financial need, a call letter for the admission to a highly reputable university or program of study, and a relevance of the field of study to AKDN’s focus areas.

Scholarship Amount: The amount that would be covering the expenses of academics, tuition fees, books, living and accommodation, etc., will be given, but half of the scholarship amount will be considered a loan, which must be reimbursed with an annual service charge of 5%.

How to Apply: The candidates need to obtain application forms as of January 1st each year from AKF offices or Aga Khan Education Services / Boards in their countries of current residence. The completed applications should be returned to the agency from which the form was obtained. They should not be sent to Geneva.

7.B. D. Bangur Endowment Scholarships

This endowment scholarship is offered to Indian nationals to undertake their higher studies abroad for a Master’s Degree or for Doctoral Courses in Science, Engineering, the Humanities, Medicine, Business Administration, and other Professional Courses.

Eligibility:  International candidates aged 19-30 holding a bachelor’s degree or equivalent are eligible for this scholarship.

Scholarship Amount:  The scholarship will cover expenses including academic fees, tuition, books, living costs, and accommodation

How to Apply:

The application forms are available at the office of the Endowment C/o Graphite India Ltd, 31 Chowringhee Road, Kolkata 700 016 or Cia Graphite India Ltd. The candidate needs to fill out the form and submit it to the same address. For more details also the candidate may contact the above mentioned address. The shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in Kolkata or Mumbai for the final award of the loan scholarship. The last date for sending requests for application form is 31 March, and for submitting the application forms the last date is 25 April of every year. However, these dates are subject to change.

8.       Bharat Petroleum Scholarship

This scholarship is provided to those students who have demonstrated all-around brilliance and have a passion for achieving excellence in their chosen field.

Eligibility: Any eligible international students who are able to demonstrate their all-around brilliance and have a passion for achieving excellence in their chosen field.

Scholarship Amount: The value that would cover full expenses of academic, travel, and living for two years.

How to Apply: The candidates need to log in to www.bharatpetroleum.com and fill out and submit their application form online.

9.       ETS TOEFL Scholarship

This scholarship program recognizes the students in India who excel extraordinarily in academics and demonstrate their well-rounded qualities, such as participation in extracurricular activities, including community service.

Eligibility:

Any candidate who is currently living in India, have completed the online scholarship application (new this year) and uploaded the academic transcripts, are holding a grade point average of 80 or higher on a 100-point scale, or a 3.0 grade point average or higher on a 4-point scale, have completed their undergraduate or graduate degree at a college or university listed in the TOEFL Destinations Directory, have a valid TOEFL test score used as a requirement for admission into an undergraduate or graduate program and are able to demonstrate effective leadership skills and an overall well-rounded portfolio with extracurricular activities, including community service, etc. are eligible for this scholarship.

Scholarship Amount: US $ 10,000

How to Apply: The candidates need to complete their application form online and upload the transcripts there.

10.       Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan

The Commonwealth Scholarships Commission awards this scholarship, making it available to all Commonwealth countries. The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), UK, jointly manages the India program.

Eligibility:  The university selects international students with exceptional academic excellence and outstanding bachelor’s degree grades for this scholarship.

Scholarship Amount: The amount that would be covering tuition fees, adequate living expenses, and one-way travel for the period granted.

How to Apply:

The candidates need to log in, fill up, and submit their application form online, which is available on the website.
