School Holidays In October: Educational Institutions To Remain Closed Due To Gandhi Jayanti, Dusshera – News18

Schools, colleges, and educational institutions will remain closed for many days in October owing to Gandhi Jayanti, Navratri, and Dussehra. Students and their parents will get a chance to plan some long weekends in October. Know how many days schools will remain closed in October 2024.

In West Bengal, many schools remain closed for a full 10 days on the special occasion of Durga Puja. There will also be some state-specific holidays in October. Hence, all students are advised to check the state holiday calendar. Schools will remain closed for five days in the month of October for different festivals.

The first government holiday will be on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. The next day, October 3, there will be a government holiday in many other states of the country including Rajasthan due to Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti. Schools will also remain closed on Mahastami on October 11 and Vijayadashami on October 12.

Apart from this, eight holidays are fixed for those schools which have holidays on both Saturday and Sunday. This month, there will be four Saturdays and four Sundays in October. Some schools have a holiday on the second Saturday. If your school is also closed on the second Saturday of the month, then you can enjoy a long weekend on Dussehra. Some schools have a provision of holiday or half day on the last Saturday of the month.
