Chandigarh, Bihar and Jharkhand have extend winter breaks for schools due to severe cold weather conditions.

Several districts and states have announced closer of the schools or extended the winter vacation amid sharp dip in temperature and severe cold waves. Check the list of the places where authorities have shut the schools due to bone-chilling weather.

Schools Shut As Fog Engulfs Delhi-NCR

The Delhi government has declared winter vacation for all government schools from January 1 to 15, 2025. According to the official order, the classes will resume on January 16, 2025

All the schools in Noida are closed for up to class 8th until further notice while Ghaziabad schools will remain shut until January 11.

Winter Break In Haryana Schools

Lucknow has closed schools will be until January 11, 2025, and directed the schools to conduct online sessions for classes 9 to 12. Winter vacation is announced in Haryana schools until January 15 and classes are scheduled to be resumed on January 16, 2025.

Schools Closed In Bihar, Jharkhand Amid Severe Cold Wave

The Bihar government has declared winter vacations for all government and private schools until January 11, 2025.  Due to severe cold wave conditions, classes up to the 8th standard in Bihar’s Araria district have been suspended until January 12. However, classes for students in grades 9 to 12 will continue from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It’s important to note that special classes and exams for pre-board and board students will proceed as scheduled.

The state government has announced a holiday for both government and private schools in Jharkhand from January 7 to 11, 202 amid the severe weather conditions.

Chandigarh Extends Winter Break For Schools

Chandigarh has extended the winter break for the school in the Union Territory until January 11, 2025. Government and private schools will remain closed till January 11 and will reopen on January 13, 2025.

School Holidays In Tamil Nadu, Telangana For Pongal And Sankranti

The Tamil Nadu government has declared school holidays from January 11 to January 19, 2025, to celebrate Pongal. Similarly, the Telangana government has announced Sankranti holidays, with classes suspended from January 11 to January 17. Intermediate colleges in Telangana will remain closed until January 16 for the festival.

Classes Resume In Punjab

Winter vacation has ended in Punjab and the school reopened on January 8, 2025. Further extension of the holiday or the closer of the school has not been announced by the government.
