Schools will remain closed for classes 1 to 5 in Tamil Nadu’s Vellore today, September 21, the district collector has announced. Due to heavy rainfall in Vellore, waterlogging has been witnessed at Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway in Konavattam. The district administration has suspended classes for standards 1 to 5 in all schools of the district due to the rainfall, reported ANI.

According to the India Meteorological Department, heavy rain is likely to occur in the Nilgiris, and Ghat areas of Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, and Madurai districts of Tamilnadu. The southwest monsoon has been active over Tamil Nadu, with rainfall occurring at several places in south and north Tamil Nadu as well as Puducherry. IMD has predicted light to moderate rain at a few places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal areas.

Meanwhile, schools will also remain shut in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida and Greater Noida today and tomorrow due to the International Trade Show and Moto G. Classes 1 to 12 will remain closed across all schools in the district to avoid inconvenience to students and parents in view of the law and traffic system. According to the notice issued by the District Education Department, there will be holidays in schools in the district after 2 pm on September 21. A complete holiday has been announced for all schools on September 22

“A huge turnout of visitors and spectators is expected during these events. In compliance with the instructions given by District Magistrate Manish Verma, the orders have been passed in order to ensure that there is no inconvenience to the students and their parents in view of the possibility of the crowd and in view of the law, security arrangements and traffic arrangements,” Dharmveer Singh, the district inspector of schools had said.
