Strathclyde University introduces MSc Sustainability Innovation Leadership programme

The University of Strathclyde, Glasgow has launched a new MSc Sustainability Innovation Leadership programme, designed to equip students with the skills to tackle environmental and social challenges. The course, which begins in September 2025, is a one-year, full-time programme offering an interdisciplinary approach that merges sustainability, innovation, and leadership across multiple sectors.

The MSc programme is designed for those from a broad range of disciplinary backgrounds who are driven by curiosity and a passion for sustainability. Candidates from business, management, engineering, design, and architecture are eligible to apply for the course with a first-class or upper second-class Honours degree (or international equivalent).

The fee for international students joining this course is £30,250 for the 2025-26 academic session.

The course will develop interdisciplinary knowledge and innovation skills, the ability to critically assess uncertain and complex environmental and social scenarios, and training to drive sustainability leadership across sectors, including business, engineering, and design, according to the press release by the University.

“The MSc Sustainability Innovation Leadership programme aims to foster a holistic, forward-thinking approach to sustainability challenges. Students will develop cognitive capacities beyond traditional learning, integrating environmental engineering science, social innovation leadership, creative design thinking, indigenous and generational perspectives.” read the release adding that through academic analysis, hands-on application, peer learning, and personal reflection, students will cultivate leadership skills applicable across sectors such as business, technology, science, public policy, and community development.

To support talented students worldwide, the University is offering a £5,000 scholarship for self-funded international (non-EU) students. The scholarship will be automatically deducted from tuition fees, making the programme more accessible to aspiring sustainability leaders.

Meanwhile, the University has introduced a new MSc in Statistics and Data Science, a conversion course for students to gain a foothold in the rapidly expanding fields of data science and applied statistics. The MSc in Statistics & Data Science, which starts in September 2025, is for students with a background in a broad range of disciplines, offering an opportunity to pivot into data science, regardless of prior experience in the field.

The course is for those candidates who are eager to gain skills in data analysis, machine learning, big data processing, predictive modelling, and the use of statistical software such as R and Python, as mentioned in the press release.

A minimum second-class (2:2) Honours degree or overseas equivalent is required to be eligible to apply for this course. The fee for international students joining this course is £25,500 ( approx Rs 28,69,418) for the 2025 -26 academic session.
