A utensil washer’s son from Rajasthan’s Khatoo village has cracked the NEET exam, drawing widespread praise for his extraordinary rise from poverty to a potential medical career. The achievement even caught the attention of former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who personally video-called the student to congratulate him, calling him “an example for others to follow.”

Shravan’s story of perseverance through limited means made its way to Jaipur, prompting the former CM’s warm message of support.

The former Chief Minister spoke to Shravan for nearly four minutes over a video call, congratulating him warmly on his success in the NEET exam.

“Shravan beta, many congratulations and blessings to you,” Gehlot said, calling his achievement deeply inspiring. He also assured the young aspirant, “If there’s anything I can do to help, don’t hesitate to tell me.”

During the conversation, Gehlot asked about Shravan’s village and showed keen interest in learning about his parents’ work. Overwhelmed by the gesture, Shravan grew emotional several times during the call.

Shravan’s father, Rekha Ram, washes dishes at wedding functions, while his mother is a homemaker. Defying the odds, Shravan secured a 9,754th rank in the NEET All India merit list and 4,071st in the OBC category—an accomplishment that brought pride not just to his family but the entire Barmer district.
