From UP B.Ed JEE to IPU CET, here are five prominent B.Ed entrance tests that aspiring candidates can apply for in 2025

The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) will reinstate one-year BEd and MEd programmes from the 2026-27 academic year. Discontinued a decade ago, these programmes have been offered as two-year courses since then. Candidates with four-year degrees or postgraduate qualifications are eligible for the one-year B.Ed courses, while those with three-year degrees must opt for the two-year programmes. Aspiring BEd candidates in 2025 can still enroll in the two-year course. However, from 2026 onwards, admission forms will include options for one-year and two-year BEd programmes.

Here are five prominent B.Ed entrance tests that aspiring candidates can apply for in 2025:

UP B.Ed JEE: The Uttar Pradesh B.Ed Joint Entrance Examination, conducted by Bundelkhand University, Jhansi, grants admission to B.Ed programmes across Uttar Pradesh. The exam comprises two papers, each carrying 200 marks, covering General Knowledge, Language, General Aptitude, and subject-specific areas. The exam is held for a duration of three hours. The 2025 registration process has begun at bujhansi.ac.in. The last date to apply is March 8. The exam will be tentatively held on April 20, 2025.

IGNOU B.Ed Entrance Exam: The Indira Gandhi National Open University B.Ed Entrance Exam is popular for its distance learning mode, allowing students to work alongside their studies. The exam focuses on General English Comprehension, Logical & Analytical Reasoning, and Subject Competence. The exam is conducted for two hours and features 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) carrying one mark each. Registrations are underway at ignou-bed.samarth.edu.in.

MAH B.Ed CET: The Maharashtra B.Ed Common Entrance Test, administered by the Maharashtra Government, regulates admissions to government B.Ed colleges within the state. The exam is held for 1 hour 30 minutes and comprises three sections including Mental Ability, Teaching Aptitude, and General Knowledge. Anyone who has completed graduation with 50 per cent can apply for this exam. Registrations are underway and candidates can apply on the official website, cetcell.mahacet.org.

TS EDCET: Telangana State Education Common Entrance Test, conducted by Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda, is a gateway to B.Ed programmes in Telangana. The test assesses candidates on General Knowledge, Teaching Aptitude, and General English. The application process will likely begin in March.

IPU CET: Indraprastha University conducts the IPU CET for admission to B.Ed. and B.Ed. (SE) programmes at the university and its affiliated institutions. Interested and eligible candidates can apply on the website at ipu.ac.in till March 31, 2025. IPU CET will be conducted in hybrid mode from April 26 to May 18. It will be held for 2 hours and 30 minutes for a total of 400 marks.
