Top Government Medical Colleges In Karnataka 2025
NIMHANS Bangalore
The National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences is a prestigious higher education institution that was founded in 1974. The institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate, advanced Masters, doctorate, and post-doctorate degree, diploma,, and Certificate programmes for students to further their studies. Approved by prominent national bodies such as NMC, the institute offers a variety of courses in major streams including Medicine & Health Sciences, Science, and Nursing. The institute provides its students with top-notch education delivered by its skilled and experienced faculty. The National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences is ranked 4th by NIRF 2024 under the medical category.

Established in 1953, Kasturba Medical College Manipal is recognised by the General Medical Council of Great Britain, the National Medical Council of India, the Malaysian Medical Council, and the Australian Medical Council.
To get admission to this college, candidates are required to pay a total of Rs 11.42 after qualifying for the NEET exam.

St. John’s Medical College
Located in Bangalore, St. John’s Medical College was established in 1963 and currently ranks 28th on the NIRF Top Medical College ranking. Here students can pursue various programmes at the undergraduate, postgraduate, super specialty, and doctorate levels via its wing institute Medical College, Nursing College, and Allied Health Science. The admission is based on the entrance exam, such as KCET-Karnataka Examination Authority, NEET, etc. Moreover, the college also conducts its entrance exam for admission.
It is to be noted that the NEET UG 2025 registration has opened for admission to the MBBS/BDS courses, and the deadline to register is March 7. The MBBS programme at St. John’s Medical College costs approximately Rs 30 lakh.
Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore
Located in Mangalore, this reputed college is recognised as one of the 20 International Medical Schools by the ECFMG for its electronic credentials verification programme. KMC Mangalore is ranked 33rd by NIRF 2024 under the Medical category. The college provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and Fellowship programmes to students across the Medical stream. Kasturba Medical College Mangalore also provides MBBS and MSc as flagship courses to students through 18 departments. The tuition fee of this college is around Rs 43.95 lakh.
Established in 1955, Kasturba Medical College utilizes the clinical facilities of the Government Lady Goschen Hospital and Government Wenlock Hospital. There is a teaching hospital attached to the college known as KMC Hospital, Attavar.
JSS Medical College, Mysore
Last on the list is JSS Mysore Medical College. The college, approved by the MCI and accredited by NABH, is ranked 39 by NIRF 2021 for Medical. Located in Mysore, Karnataka, the college was established between 1984-85 and is well-known for offering multiple medical courses recognised by organisations like the General Medical Council (UK), Sri Lanka Medical Council, and WHO.
