India’s top 10 private engineering colleges in NIRF 2024 rankings include VIT, SRM, BITS Pilani, Amrita University, and others.

India is home to over 942 private engineering colleges offering various courses such as Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. Admission to these top institutions is primarily based on entrance exams like JEE Mains, VITEEE, SRMJEE, BITSAT, and MET.
The recently released National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 rankings provide vital insights into the quality of education and performance of higher education institutions, aiding prospective candidates in selecting the best colleges to advance their careers.
Below is the list of the top 10 private engineering colleges in India according to NIRF 2024 rankings:
1. VIT University, Tamil Nadu (Rank 11)
Established in 2001, VIT is one of the leading private deemed universities in India, offering top-tier academic programmes. It is ranked between 791–800 in the QS World University Rankings 2025. The university provides a variety of courses, including BCom, BBA, BDes, MBA, MTech, MSW, and PhD. Scholarships such as the K Vora Memorial Award, Siddharth Merit Cum Means Award, and Chancellor Gold Medal are also available to students based on their performance.
2. SRM University, Chennai (Rank 13)
Founded in 1985, the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) is known for its SRM Career Centre, a dedicated placement department that offers training and placement opportunities.
