Tribal women in Gadchiroli learn basic writing – Times of India

Pune: Trisharan Enlightenment Foundation, Pune has turned 200 tribal women from Surajgad area of Gadchiroli‘s Etapalli taluka literate. the women hail from 21 villages and have become literate under the ‘I will sign’ campaign. A Village Outreach Centers has been opened by the foundation at Surjagad’s iron ore project to address various problems of the tribals. During the period of June and July, a month-long campaign was conducted to teach basic writing skills to women. The campaign was conducted jointly with Lloyds Metals and Energy.

Recently, these 200 women were felicitated with certificates and gifts. On this occasion, Village Outreach Center was inaugurated in Hedari village. Trainers Shevanta Naroti, Vanita Pungati, Village Sevika of Purusulgondi along with Sarpanch of the villages, village Patil and coordinators of all Village Contact Centers were present. About 250 to 300 local women attended this event.
The Village Outreach Center was inaugurated by Kirti Reddy, Director, Lloyds Infinity Foundation. On this occasion Pragya Waghmare, Managing Director of Trisharan Enlightenment Foundation Pune, L. Sai Kumar, Gajanan Naik of Lloyds Metals and Energy, Trisharan Enlightenment Foundation Pune State Manager Prashant Waghmare, Nagulwadi Sarpanch Savita Durva, Gadchiroli district coordinator of ‘Trisharan’ Mangal Mashakhetri, taluka coordinator Maroti Mattami, trainers of the institute Padmakar Goradwar, Ajay Sangamwar, Archana Bankar, trainers Shevanta Naroti, Vanita Pungati, village workers of Purusulgondi along with other village sarpanch, village patil and development representatives of all village outreach centers were present. 250 to 300 local women attended this event.
