UGC grants University of Delhi Category-1 Autonomy; teachers fear it may lead to self-financing courses – Times of India

NEW DELHI: In a significant development for higher education in India, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has granted Category-1 University status to the University of Delhi. The University of Delhi’s proposal for this recognition was carefully evaluated by the UGC and subsequently approved in its 571st meeting held on July 25, 2023.
