UGC-NET 2024: The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC- NET) is a crucial exam for applicants hoping to work as assistant professors or junior research fellows (JRFs) in Indian universities and colleges. As per the UGC’s latest information, the UGC NET December 2024 will be held from January 3 to 16. Candidates who have applied for the exam can check the detailed exam schedule via the UGC NET official website ugcnet.nta.ac.in.
UGC NET December 2024: Exam Paper Pattern
The UGC-NET December 2024 will take place in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for 85 subjects. There will be two sections on the test paper for a total of 300 marks. There will be multiple-choice, objective-type questions in both parts.
The Paper I will be of 100 marks with a total of 50 questions. Paper I will be held to evaluate the candidate’s research and teaching skills. Its main purpose is to assess the candidate’s capacity for reasoning, reading comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness.

The Paper II will be of 200 marks with a total of 100 questions. This will evaluate domain knowledge and is dependent on the candidate’s chosen subject.
UGC NET December 2024: Exam Marking Scheme
As per UGC NET guidelines, there is no negative marking for wrong answers, and each right response will receive two marks. Additionally, unanswered questions will not result in a deduction of marks.
UGC NET Exam: Cut-Off
The National Testing Agency (NTA) determines the minimum score required to pass the NTA UGC NET exam. Candidates must receive the bare minimum of qualifying grades to be considered for the JRF and Assistant Professor positions. Out of 300 marks, the UGC NET Cutoff marks are determined. Candidates from the General category must receive at least 40 percent that is 120 out of 300 points to pass the UGC NET exam. However, a candidate must receive 105 out of 300 points overall in both papers which is a minimum of 35 per cent if they are OBC, SC, ST, PWD, or transgender.
