The University of Huddersfield’s new London campus offers postgraduate programmes in Management, International Business, Computing, and Marketing. This expansion provides international students, especially from India, with enhanced opportunities for quality education, industry exposure, and merit-based scholarships.
The University of Huddersfield has a strong track record of preparing students for the job market. According to the latest data, 94% of its postgraduate students secure employment or pursue further studies within fifteen months of graduation, with an average salary of £36,100 per year. The London campus is expected to provide students with excellent networking opportunities, industry connections, and access to a dynamic job market.
Speaking to News18.com, Ian Crichton, CEO of Study Group, highlighted the growing interest of Indian students in studying abroad. He noted that while Chinese students historically dominated overseas programmes, Indian students have now become the largest international student community in the UK.
“The UK government recognises the importance of international students, particularly from India. However, policy shifts have been slower than expected, and challenges like restrictions on postgraduate dependents remain unresolved,” said Crichton.
Crichton highlighted London’s advantages, saying, “London combines top-quality education, diverse cultures, and great career opportunities. As a global business hub, it gives students direct access to employers, networking events, and internships.”

To qualify for these scholarships, students must:
- Be international, fee-paying students
- Apply for a full-time taught postgraduate course
- Be self-funded (not receiving financial support from other sources)
- Meet the English and academic entry requirements for the course
The scholarships do not require a separate application; eligible students are automatically considered during the admission process.
Weighing Study Abroad Options: Challenges And Opportunities
“The United States has always been a top choice for Indian students because of its prestigious universities and strong job market, especially in tech and business,” Crichton said. “But lately, concerns around immigration policies and political uncertainty are making students and their families think twice. That said, top US universities still offer great opportunities, and many are taking extra steps to ensure student safety, like Florida Atlantic University.”
On Canada, he pointed out, “The rising cost of education and ongoing diplomatic tensions with India are making some students reconsider their options. It’s still a popular destination, but affordability has become a growing concern.”
Speaking about Australia, Crichton said, “Australia has been a long-time favourite for Indian students, but changes in immigration policies have created new challenges. Despite this, it remains a strong contender.”
Despite these hurdles, he believes the UK continues to be a promising destination. “The UK and India share a long-standing educational and cultural connection. As long as the UK remains open and welcoming to international students, it will continue to be a top choice.”
At the same time, the UK government faces challenges in balancing its approach to international students. Crichton noted that while universities have stepped up recruitment efforts post-Brexit, student migration is often misrepresented as a general rise in immigration, influencing public perception.
