The Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council in Prayagraj officially declared the results for Class 10 and 12 board examinations for 2025 on Friday, April 25. The UP Board Result 2025, affecting over 54 lakh students who sat for the exams, have been uploaded to the council’s websites, upmsp.edu.in and upresults.nic.in.

For many students, the announcement marks the culmination of months of uncertainty, but for others, particularly those with lower marks or those who failed in one or more subjects, the path forward may seem unclear.

However, the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council has provided several avenues for students who did not meet the passing criteria, ensuring that failure does not necessarily mean the end of their educational journey.

UP Board Result 2025: Options for Students Who Did Not Pass

While the results bring joy to many, those who have not passed or who have scored below expectations need not lose hope. The UP Board has outlined several alternatives, allowing students to recover their academic year and pursue future opportunities.

1. Compartment Examinations

For students who have failed in one or two subjects, the UP Board offers the chance to take compartment exams. These examinations, typically held in July, provide students with a second opportunity to pass the subjects they failed. The application process for the compartment exams will be available on the UP Board’s official website after the result declaration. Students must fill out the form, pay the requisite fee, and download their admit cards.

The scrutiny fee, which ranges from Rs 100 to Rs 500 per subject, can be paid through the UP Board’s official website. However, it is important to note that marks may either increase, decrease, or remain unchanged following re-evaluation.

3. Re-Examination (For Failing in Multiple Subjects)

Students who fail in three or more subjects will not be eligible for compartment exams and will have to reappear for the entire examination the following year. • Vocational and ITI Courses: For students who want to quickly enter the workforce, enrolling in ITI (Industrial Training Institutes) or pursuing a polytechnic diploma after completing their Class 10 is a viable option. These courses focus on practical skills and job readiness.
• Other Vocational Training: Courses such as beautician training, graphic designing, or tailoring also offer quick entry into the job market.

5. Job Opportunities and Skill Development

For those interested in working while continuing their studies, there are several options:

UP Board Result 2025: Passing Criteria

The UP Board’s passing criteria for both the Class 10 and 12 Board exams are as follows:

1. Minimum Marks: A student must secure at least 33% in each subject to pass.
2. Practical Subjects: For subjects that include practicals, students need to achieve a combined 33% in both theory and practicals.
3. Grace Marks: If a student scores between 28 and 32 marks in a subject, the UP Board may award up to 5 grace marks, at its discretion.

For example, if a student has failed in Mathematics but passed in all other subjects, they will be eligible to appear for the compartment exam to clear Mathematics and thereby secure a passing grade.
