LUCKNOW: An MoU has been signed virtually on Friday between the Government of Uttar Pradesh and Western Sydney University (WSU), Australia, to establish the first foreign university campus in Uttar Pradesh. This MoU testifies the sheer commitment of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to enhance the entire education realm of the state, the government said.
The university is also planning to set up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) to encourage Smart Farming, Water Security and Testing, Packaging & Treatment of agri-based commodities leveraging the increasing export potential due to the upcoming international airport at Jewar.
Manoj Kumar Singh, Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh and Professor Deborah Sweeney, the Acting Vice Chancellor of WSU signed the document on behalf of their respective parties in the presence of Monika S. Garg, Agriculture Production Commissioner, MP Aggarwal, Principal Secretary, Higher Education, NG Ravi Kumar, CEO, Greater Noida Authority (virtually) and Prathamesh Kumar, ACEO, Invest UP.
This MoU marks a significant beginning of a more employable realm and prepares the ground for the first foreign university in the state. The MoU revolves around two-phased development — first, the university will run courses in a pre-existing infrastructure and second, the state will provide the university with land and other clearances in the meantime to establish their campus in Greater Noida, the officials said.
