Girls outperform boys in UP Board 2025 exams: UPMSP announces results

PRAYAGRAJ: Girls have once again outshined boys in the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board, commonly known as UP Board, examinations for both High School (Class 10) and Intermediate (Class 12) levels.
According to the results declared by the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) on Friday at the Board’s headquarters here at Prayagraj, the pass percentage of female students has significantly surpassed that of their male counterparts.
In the High School results the overall pass percentage was 90.11%. Out of 25,45,815 students who appeared, 13,27,024 were boys and 12,18,791 were girls. Among the successful candidates, 11,44,138 were girls, registering a pass percentage of 93.87%, while 11,49,984 boys passed with a pass percentage of 86.66%. This marked a 7.21% lead in favour of girls.
Likewise, in the Intermediate (Class 12) examinations, the superior performance of female students too was exceptionally well as compared to boys. While the overall pass percentage stood at 81.15%, girls achieved a pass percentage of 86.37%, compared to 76.60% among boys, a gap of 9.77%.

The examinations were held from February 24 to March 12, 2025, across 8,140 centers over 13 working days. Answer sheets were evaluated between March 19 and April 2 at 261 evaluation centers, involving 92,594 teachers. A total of 3,682 candidates appeared for partial subject exams under board regulations.
In high school results, the institutional candidates showed a stronger performance with a pass percentage of 90.19%, compared to 68.9% for private candidates, a notable difference of 21.29%. Out of the total passed, 22,87,431 were institutional and 6,691 were private candidates.
Likewise, in the Intermediate result, out of 25,98,560 candidates who took the Intermediate exam, 13,87,263 were boys and 12,11,297 were girls. Among those who passed, 10,62,616 were boys, and 10,46,158 were girls.
Interestingly, private candidates (81.28%) slightly outperformed institutional candidates (81.15%), a rare instance where the gap favored private students, though marginally by 0.13%. In total, 20,38,884 institutional and 69,890 private candidates cleared the exam.
