In India, the youth devote several years to preparing for the highly competitive UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) and PCS (Provincial Civil Service) Civil Service examinations. While some aspiring candidates manage to successfully qualify for these prestigious exams, many others find themselves falling short, despite putting in immense efforts and dedication.
Recognising the challenges faced by these individuals, the UPPSC (Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission) has taken a commendable initiative to extend employment opportunities to those who did not secure a spot in the exams.
The UPPSC is providing an avenue for candidates who were unable to qualify for the examinations. The commission collects details from these aspiring civil servants and publishes this information on its official website. By doing so, they enable companies and organizations seeking to hire qualified individuals to access this pool of potential candidates.
This initiative has been in place for some time but is currently available only in a few states. In Uttar Pradesh, the UPPSC introduced this facility earlier this year, specifically for candidates who appeared for the PCS examination. According to reports, 270 candidates who were not selected have provided their details to be featured on the website. Moreover, the UPPSC has now extended this opportunity to candidates from other examinations.
Likewise, the commission has invited individuals who were unable to clear the interview round in the UP PCS J (Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission Civil Judge Exam) examination to submit their details. Interested candidates have until November 20 to apply. They are required to furnish essential information such as their name, roll number, interview date, father/husband’s name, date of birth, categories, and other pertinent details in their application emails. These applications should be sent from their registered email IDs to nsmun22@gmail.com.
An official associated with the UPPSC, in a statement to The Hindustan Times, emphasized the commission’s belief that candidates who reach the interview stage possess substantial potential. Given the rigorous three-tier selection process and the fact that only a select few emerge victorious, the initiative serves a dual purpose. First, it aims to prevent candidates who fell short from succumbing to depression and disillusionment. Second, it seeks to address the staffing requirements of various industries by connecting capable candidates with suitable employment opportunities.
