UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2025: The Union Public Commission Thursday issued an important notice for candidates appearing in the upcoming UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2025, on its official website at upsc.gov.in.

The notice, issued specifically for candidates falling under the categories of Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) and Persons with Disability (PwD), and have opted for the facility of Scribe, either their own, or appointed by the Commission.

In its notice, the Commission has informed that candidates who wish to change the scribe for the Civil Services Prelims exam 2025, can forward their request to the commission, along with required details of their new scribe, till May 18, 4 pm on the Commission’s email at uscsp-upsc@nic.in.

The UPSC has scheduled the Civil Services Preliminary Examination (UPSC Prelims) for May 25. The prelims will be held in two shifts on the same day — one for Paper 1 (General Studies) and another for Paper 2 (CSAT). Both papers are objective-type and serve as a screening test for the next stage.

Following the prelims, the UPSC Mains 2025 is tentatively scheduled to begin on August 22, 2025. However, this date is subject to change, and candidates are advised to regularly check the UPSC website for official updates.

What details are required to be furnished for change of scribe?

Details required to submit include: Name of Scribe, educational qualification, permanent address, communication address, mobile number, e-mail address, relationship of scribe with candidate (if applicable) and a submitting a declaration. The UPSC has provided a detailed pro-forma in its notice, which can be found on the official website of the Commission.

The Commission has further stated that any requests for a change of scribe for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2025 will only be considered if they are submitted by 4:00 pm on May 18. Candidates are required to send their requests exclusively to the designated email address at uscsp-upsc@nic.in.

Furthermore, the notice stated that the Commission will not entertain any such requests sent to other email IDs or those received after the deadline of 4 pm on May 18. Candidates are advised to adhere strictly to this instruction to ensure their requests are processed.
