UPSC CSE Prelims 2025: The applications close on Feb 18, 2025. Corrections can be made from Feb 19-25 at upsconline.gov.in.

UPSC CSE Prelims 2025: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conclude the application process for the Civil Services Preliminary Examination (CSE) 2025 soon. Candidates who have yet not applied for the examination can visit the official website – upsconline.gov.in to fill out the application form. The last date to apply for the UPSC Prelims 2025 exam is February 18, 2025.

After the application process is concluded, the UPSC will open the application correction window on February 19 and candidates can modify their applications until February 25.

“The last date for submission for CS(P)-2025 & IFoS(P)-2025 has been extended till 18.02.2025 (06:00 PM). Further, the Correction window of 7 days shall now be available till expiry of 7 days from the next day after the closure of the application window i.e. from 19.02.2025 to 25.02.2025,” reads the official notice.

UPSC CSE Prelims 2025: Key Changes In Application Process

UPSC has introduced several changes in its online application system for the 2025 Civil Services Preliminary Exam. These changes come after aspirants raised concerns over technical glitches in the previous application process.

Editable Fields UPSC CSE Prelims 2025 Application

To improve the application process, the UPSC has made certain entries “editable” in the one-time registration (OTR) system for the Civil Services examination.  “In view of the queries/difficulties raised by the candidates in filling up the online application form for the civil services examination, 2025, the Commission has decided the following changes in the one-time registration (OTR) for filling up of the online application,” reads the official notice.

From now on, the following fields in the OTR profile will be editable until the final submission of the application, and thereafter during the correction window:

  • Have you ever changed your name?
  • Gender
  • Minority Status
  • Class 10th Board Examination Roll No.

However, certain key fields remain non-editable:

  • Name (as per Class X)
  • Date of Birth
  • Father’s Name
  • Mother’s Name
  • Mobile Number
  • Email ID

UPSC CSE Prelims 2025: Can You Change Your Contact Information?

In case a candidate loses access to their registered contact details, the UPSC has introduced a process to update them:

Lost Mobile Number: If a candidate has lost access to their registered mobile number but still has access to their email ID, they can request a change in mobile number. An OTP will be sent to the registered email ID for verification.

Lost Email ID: If the candidate has lost access to their registered email ID but has access to their mobile number, they can request a change in email ID. In this case, an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number for verification.

Lost Both Mobile and Email IDs: If a candidate has lost access to both their registered mobile number and email ID, they will need to send a request to the UPSC at otrupsc@gov.in. The candidate must also provide supporting documents, including:

Matriculation Certificate

Aadhaar card, PAN card, Passport, or Driving License

Recent passport-sized photograph

An undertaking in a prescribed format

UPSC CSE Prelims 2025: Changes For PwBD Candidates In Application Form

The UPSC has also made provisions for eligible PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) candidates. Those who wish to use their own scribe for the Civil Services (Preliminary) exam must now mandatorily provide their details during the application process.

“The PwBD candidates, who wish to seek assistance of ‘own scribe’ for the CS (Main) exam, may voluntarily indicate the scribe details for CS (Main) while applying for CS (Prelim) exam,” UPSC stated.

Additionally, such candidates will be able to update or provide details of their “own scribe” during a window that will open after the result of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam is declared.
