UPSC Success: Inspiring tales of talent often capture our attention, and the recent success of Kavita Kiran in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Exams is one such story. Kavita, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, achieved the 586th rank in the prestigious examination. Remarkably, she completed the entire process without informing her family.
When the results were announced, her family was taken by surprise, as they were unaware that she had even appeared for the exam. This unexpected success was a pleasant shock for her parents.
Kavita’s Academic Pursuits
Kavita is originally from Mau, Uttar Pradesh. Her father, Surendra Nath Singh, is a practising lawyer and a former minister of the District Bar Association in Mau.
She began her early education at Fatima School in Mau and completed her high school there. She then attended DPS Vasant Kunj in Delhi for her intermediate studies. Kavita continued her academic journey at Miranda House in Delhi for her undergraduate degree and pursued postgraduate studies at the Delhi School of Economics. Furthering her education, she enrolled at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai.
Kavita also cleared the JRF and NET exams and commenced research at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Her younger brother, Prashant Kiran, graduated in Law from Delhi University and is now practising in the Supreme Court. Although Kavita attempted the UPSC exam in 2022 without success, her perseverance paid off this year with her commendable ranking.
