NEW DELHI: Senior IAS officer Vineet Joshi assumed charge as Secretary, Department of Higher Education in Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi, on Thursday.
Following his assumption of office, Joshi interacted with senior officials of the ministry.
Joshi, a 1992-batch IAS officer had previously served as the CBSE Chairman. He was the Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and also looked after the Institutes of Eminence (IoE), and Higher Education Funding Agency (HEFA), among other verticals of higher education.
Before this appointment, he served as the Chief Secretary of Manipur. He has held several prominent positions in the education sector, including Director-General of the National Testing Agency (NTA), Chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Education, among others.
Joshi holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade.
