On Tuesday, the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) announced the results of PU exams which are available at karresults.nic.in. Of a total 6,37,805 students who appeared, 4,68,439 students have passed this year. In 2024, the overall pass percentage was 81.15 per cent.
Bangarappa said that though he did not want to dwell much into the details of previous years, he said that the PUC examinations were conducted with much seriousness avoiding malpractices. “We did a web telecast of the examination and there was a lot of transparency. I do not want to talk about the previous years but we have done our duty properly,” he added.
The minister clarified that while 8,000 students were given marks under a valuation scheme, these were not grace marks. “There is no general provision for grace marks,” he reiterated. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who was briefed in the presence of senior education officials, also supported the move to maintain exam integrity without awarding grace marks.

However, the results also highlighted gaps in institutional performance. A total of 123 colleges across the state reported zero pass percentages. Among these, 90 were unaided, 20 aided, eight government-run, and five under the Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Society (KREIS).
The minister acknowledged this ongoing issue and instructed area and joint directors to visit these institutions to identify shortcomings.
