World Top Universities 2023:  University of Oxford topped the ranking list. Check out the top 20 universities

The Times Higher Education has released the World Top Universities list for 2023. According to the list released, the University of Oxford, UK, is the top university in the world. The University of Harvard (US) is in the second place and the University of Cambridge (UK) is in the third.

For the 7th consecutive time, Oxford topped the list. Oxford topped in the research pillar, whereas Harvard topped in the teaching indicator.

A total of 1,799 universities across 104 countries and regions have been assessed based on 13 carefully calibrated indicators. These indicators measure the performance of the institutions in four areas, including research, teaching, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.

The United States continues to dominate, with 177 universities ranked overall, including seven in the world’s top ten and 12 in the top 20. However, the number of US universities represented in the top 100 list has decreased from 43 in 2018 to 34 this year.
